The City of Parsons agrees to contribute funds for a memorial for the old Douglass School.
At this week's City Commission meeting, Mayor Verlyn Boulanger reads the proposal.
The proposed memorial will be seven feet tall and six feet wide. Parsons Director of Economic Development says USD 503 will also contribute $6,500 and is raising the money for their portion of the funding.
Douglass School was built in 1908 and served black students in grades 1 through 8 until integration in 1956. The building was demolished in 1958.
