Independence to Celebrate City's Baseball History

On Saturday, the City of Independence will celebrate the 95th Anniversary of the First Night Baseball Game played on April 28, 1930, at Shulthis Stadium in Riverside Park.

The Independence Chamber of Commerce has a variety of events planned for the day including a Baseball history Story Walk at 10:30am. Participants will meet at the stadium and take a short walk while learning interesting historical baseball facts.

In the afternoon, local historian Ken Brown will give a presentation on the City's baseball history. The talk will also take place at the stadium beginning at 12:30. The Independence historical Museum and Art Center will also host a Memorabilia Tour from 1 to 4pm in downtown Independence.

There will also be face painting, a rock hunt, concessions, free rides on the train and carousel, and free mini golf at Riverside Park.

It all happens Saturday in Independence.
