Independence City Commission to Award Contract for North 10th Street Project

The Independence City Commission will meet tonight and entertain a brief agenda.

Up for discussion will be the authorization of a KDOT C-CLIP grant for an engineering contract for a project on 10th Street between Main and Laurel to TranSystems. The project is slated to begin in 2027 and will include pavement replacement for the street plus replacement of the curb, gutter, and storm sewer.

Commissioners will also consider the installation of a 20-minute parking space in the 100 block of West Myrtle. The space would be located near the alley on the south side of the street. The move is in response to concerns by downtown businesses regarding parking issues in the area.

Tonight's Meeting begins at 5:30 in the Commission Room at City Hall. It is open to the public and is also available for online viewing via the City website.
