Kansas Governor Laura Kelly orders flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Pope Francis.
Flags will be lowered on all state buildings, grounds, and facilities beginning immediately. They will remain at half-staff through sunset on Saturday, the day of the late pontiff's funeral.
Francis passed away on Monday after suffering a stroke and heart failure. He will lie in state for three days before his funeral at 10am (3am Central Time) on Saturday in front of St. Peter's Basilica.
Governor Kelly called Francis a beacon of light and one of the most influential leaders of our time.
