After failing to reach a quorum, The Monday evening Caney City Council meeting turned into a work session, focusing on ward versus at large council elections and the workload of city staff.
Caney City Administrator Andrea Sibley says current city staff is doing a great job wearing many hats, but positions need to be filled so current staff can work on their focus specific tasks.
Sibley says the big and small things are equally important in Caney, especially if the town sees itself in the broader picture.
Other discussions in the work session included reducing the number of council positions from eight to four, with the mayor continuing to be the tie-breaking vote, if needed, and whether the number of wards need to be reduced from four to two, or be eliminated altogether. More will be discussed in another work session set for Monday, April 28th at 6:30 in council chambers.
