Sedan Revisits Animal Shelter Issue

The Sedan City Council revisits the issue of a city animal shelter in a contentious meeting.

Tempers flared at this week's city council meeting over the issue of signing a new contract with the Chautauqua County Animal Shelter. The City parted ways with the shelter earlier this year following a dispute of over open financial records. Council. One option for Sedan was for the City to open its own shelter. Council member Janice Fine says that's a good long-term goal, but the City needs something NOW.

Fine sparred with fellow Council member Adam Clark over the issue. She says she asked City Attorney Jeff Chubb about the legal issues.

On the final vote, Angela Evans and Sharon Payne joined Clark to defeat the measure on a 3-2 vote. Fine and Kathy Miller voted in favor of the new contract.
