Wilson County Preparing for Measles Outbreak

Wilson County is taking measures to protect from the measles outbreak in Western Kansas and Southern Oklahoma.

There are at least 35 cases of measles currently in the state of Kansas, with a majority of those coming in the Southwestern portion of the state. Wilson County Health Department Director Amy Lell says they are taking the precautionary measures very seriously.

Lell also spoke to the commission about a pair of recent grants applied for in the Health Department. She says positive feedback was given despite some difficult circumstances.

There will be no commission meeting in Wilson County next week due to the Easter holiday. The next scheduled meeting is for April 30th at 9 a.m. in Room 101 of the Courthouse in Fredonia.
