Police in Pittsburg are investigating the discovery of a body found near a radio signal tower on city property.
Just before 8am yesterday, Pittsburg Fire and Crawford County EMS were dispatched to the scene at 107 East 1st Street. A passerby alerted authorities after noticing a person lying on the ground inside a locked chain link fence at the base of the tower.
The deceased person's remains have been sent to Kansas City for an autopsy and Pittsburg Police say they are working with the Crawford County Coroner's Office to determine the cause and manner of death. At this point, police do not suspect foul play.
