Two people are dead in two separate single-vehicle crashes in northeastern Kansas yesterday.
The first accident occurred just after 1pm near Bonner Springs, when 21-year-old Jacob Rhodes of Shawnee lost control of his vehicle and struck a bridge pillar on I-435. Rhodes was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second fatal accident occurred around 3:15pm on US-75 about five miles south of Topeka. 71-year-old Ronald Heusted was traveling southbound on US-75 when his vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason, vaulted the ditch, and came to rest in a creek bed.
