Parsons Police locate and recover a stolen vehicle in Wichita with the help of license plate readers.
On April 4th, P-P-D received a report of the theft of a 2014 Chevy Traverse from the 15000 block of Appleton Street in Parsons. Officers entered the vehicle's information into the National Crime Information Center or N-C-I-C database. N-C-I-C is a centralized database maintained by the FBI, giving law enforcement agencies nationwide the ability to share and access information about stolen property, missing persons, and wanted individuals,
Two days later on April 6th, P-P-D received a hit from a FLOCKS camera that indicated the car had been spotted in Wichita. With the help of the Wichita Police Department, the Traverse was located and recovered.
Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks stated that the use of technology helped to quickly solve a case that might otherwise have never been solved in the past.
