Advisory Issued for Marketside Celery Sold at Walmart

A Florida-based produce company issues a voluntary advisory for Marketside celery sold at Walmart locations due to a possible listeria contamination.

Duda Farm Fresh Foods is voluntarily issuing a precautionary advisory of a single production lot of washed and ready-to-eat 4 inch, 1.6 ounce Marketside Celery Sticks with best if used by date of March 23, 2025. The product may be contaminated with listeria. The potential for contamination was discovered during random sampling by the Georgia Department of Agriculture from a Georgia store location where one of multiple samples yielded a positive test result.

Consumers who have this product in their possession, including in their freezer, should not consume and discard the product.

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, and abdominal pain.

The product was sold at Walmart locations in several states including Kansas and Missouri.
