Pittsburg Police Approved for Patrol Car Cameras

The Pittsburg Police Department gets the go-ahead for the purchase of thirteen in-car cameras for patrol cars.

The approval from the Pittsburg City Commission came during Tuesday's regular session meeting. Deputy Police Chief Major Ben Henderson says the purchase, covered by the public safety sales tax, will help with transparency and earning public trust. He says the technology will mesh with body worn cameras already utilized by the department.

The equipment, hardware, and software costs around 114 thousand dollars and should arrive in two to three months.
