Galena Voters Widely Approve School Bond Issue

Voters in Galena overwhelmingly approve a $7.5 million bond issue for multiple issues throughout the district.

More than 83 percent of voters said yes to the bond, which will fund multiple projects, including classrooms designed for special education students, a new early childhood preschool center, modular unit replacements at Spring Grove, and adding a storm shelter.

Upgrades will also take place at Liberty Elementary through replacing HVAC units, building repairs and the construction of a storm shelter. Officials say it will increase safety features to the connector on the high school.

Galena USD 499 superintendent Toby VanCleave says the district appreciates the support from the community and district. He adds that meetings with an architect and construction manager for planning will happen soon.
