A Wichita man is arrested and charged after allegedly stealing a historic cannon from a Wichita park.
37-year-old Gordon Price has been charged with theft with a value over $100,000, aggravated criminal damage to property, and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection to the theft of a Spanish-American war cannon from Central Riverside Park on April 3.
The 800-pound cannon was located at a war memorial in the park. The gun was made in Seville, Spain, in 1794 and given to the City of Wichita as a gift in the year 1900. Wichita Police found the cannon in Price's home on Thursday and say the gun had sustained considerable damage
Price remains in the Sedgwick County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
