A late-night accident on Sunday evening leads to a water rescue in northwest Arkansas.
Authorities in Sebastian County, Arkansas, received a 911 call around 11:30 Sunday night from an individual who told dispatchers that they had driven into the Arkansas River in the dark and that their car was taking on water.
Nearby officers from the Barling, AR, Police Department responded to the call and found an individual in the water near a boat ramp. The person was struggling to stay afloat in the river water. Firefighters on scene threw a rescue line to the person and pulled them from the water.
The person was taken to a local hospital for medical care. The vehicle remains submerged until it can be located and removed from the water.
