Kansas House Elections Committee Chair Announce Candidacy for Secretary of State

The Chair of the Kansas House Elections Committee Representative Pat Proctor announces he is running to be the next Kansas Secretary of State.

The Leavenworth Republican made the announcement over the weekend. Proctor was first elected to the State House of Representatives from District 41 in northeast Kansas in 2020. Since that time, he's been involved with passing election legislation, including the repeal of a three-day grace period for mail-in ballots and a ban on ranked-choice voting in Kansas.

Proctor will be vying to fill the position left open by current Secretary of State Scott Schwab, who is leaving his office to run for governor.

Kansas will elect a new Secretary of State in November 2026.
