Local Sheriff's Office Warns of Dangers of Underage Drinking

The Allen County Sheriff’s Office and the Allen County Multi-Agency Team along with the Moran Police Department remind area residents about the consequences of underage drinking.

The law enforcement agencies remind Kansans that state law prohibits furnishing alcohol to minors. That includes selling to, buying for, or giving alcohol to anyone under the age of 21. The fine for violating that law is $200. Hosting a party where minors are drinking or using a fake or borrowed ID can result in a $1,000 fine and up to a year in jail. Those under the age of 21 caught drinking or in possession of alcohol can face fines of up to $500 and the loss of their license for up to a year.
