The Independence Fire and EMS Department has some new tools to fight fire thanks to the generosity of an area company.

 

The department recently received a $1,000 donation from Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline and used the money to purchase three stich hooks. Stich Hooks are specialized tools that are designed to help firefighters perforate and remove ceiling materials. The tools will help improve the efficiency and safety of firefighting by providing a reliable way to quickly remove obstacles.

 

Southern Star is a Kentucky-based transporter of natural gas with nearly 6,000 miles of pipeline across the Midwest including Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri.
