A suspect is under arrest in connection to the theft of a historic cannon from a Wichita park.

 

The cannon, which was built in Seville, Spain, in 1794, had been part of a Spanish-American War Memorial in Wichita's Central Riverside Park. It was gifted to the City of Wichita in 1900.

 

Wichita police say a 37-year-old man has been arrested with the theft of the 800-pound cannon. The suspect also faces charges of vandalism and felony theft.
