The Kansas Department of Health and Environment announces the recipients of waste tire product grants.
The annual waste tire product grants are awarded to local municipalities and public and private schools K-12 across the state and fund projects that include the use of recycled tire products like playground surfacing and picnic tables.
Area organizations receiving the grants include $1,800 for the Oswego Police Department, $4,300 for the City of Yates Center, and $11,000 for the City of Pleasanton.
The grants are funded by revenue collected through the tire excise tax.
