Housing has recently become a major issue for cities and towns of all sizes across the four-state region, and the City of Fredonia is no different.
At Wednesday's Fredonia City Commission meeting, City Administrator Evan Bolt addressed several housing concerns for the city. As a member of the Fredonia Zoning and Planning Commission, Bolt says one of the group's main goals for the year is to reexamine housing codes.
Another priority for the City is to continue its efforts to combat dangerous and unsafe structures. Bolt says he has been working with Code Enforcement Officer Duste Odell to identify those structures.
Also at this week's meeting, representatives from Hope Unlimited, the CASA 31st Judicial District, the Kansas Department of Children and Families, and the Kansas Children's Service League were on hand for the official City proclamation designating April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
