The City of Sedan Revisits The Animal Shelter Issue

The City of Sedan Agrees to revisit their issues with the Chautauqua County Animal shelter.

At this week's meeting of the Sedan City Council, the issue of what to do with stray or vicious dogs in the city came up again. This time, the matter concerned a dog attack that occurred on Monday afternoon. While few details were given regarding the incident since it is currently under investigation, Council members acknowledged that the city needs a place to house such animals. The City severed its relationship earlier this year with the county animal shelter over issues regarding the Kansas Open Records Act. Council member Adam Clark says the issue between the two groups has not changed.

Council member Kathy Miller says the City is in a difficult situation.

Though no official decision was made, council members decided to reopen talks with the Chautauqua County Animal Shelter to see if the two parties could reach an agreement.
