Lithium Battery Causes Fire at Salina Hotel

A weekend fire at a Salina Hotel is thought to have been caused by a lithium battery in a rechargeable flashlight.

The Salina Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at the Rodeway Inn just before noon on Sunday. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a small active fire on the third floor of the hotel. The hotel's sprinkler system had been activated, and all occupants were able to safely escape from the building.

Investigators believe the blaze was caused by the lithium battery in a rechargeable flashlight inside the room where the fire began.

There was minimal fire damage to the room and water damage to other floors of the hotel.

No injuries were reported.
