Authorities in southwest Missouri are investigating the death of a three-month-old infant.

Police in Oronogo are investigating after they were called to an apartment complex in the City located just north of Joplin. When emergency crews arrived, they discovered a three-month-old baby who was not breathing. Emergency life-saving efforts were taken and the child was transported to a nearby hospital, but later passed away.

The Oronogo Police Department and the Jasper County Sheriff's Office say the investigation is ongoing.
