A group of people representing the Montgomery County Democrats staged a protest in front of Memorial Hall in Independence.

 

The protest took place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening, at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Chestnut Street. One protester says immigration is a major issue for her.

 

The Montgomery County Democrats have also had protests at the state capital and in Coffeyville in recent weeks. Another protester says getting out in the public eye is crucial to creating change.

 

While Montgomery County has historically been a high-Conservative area, the first protester says she feels that more people are taking notice to the issues with the nation's government.

 

The Montgomery County Democrats are hopeful that despite being part of a minority party in the area, that they can spark change moving forward.
