Severe Weather Possible Overnight - Update: Tornado Watch Issued

The tornado watch for southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma has now been extended through 7 a.m.

 

In addition, severe thunderstorm warnings are being issued as a line of storms move into the area.  Tune to The Mighty 690 for details this morning.

 

***** Update 5 p.m. 4-1 *****

 

A tornado watch has been issued for southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma until midnight.   The area now included in the "enhanced" risk of severe weather has grown to the southwest to include counties along the Kansas-Oklahoma line all the way to Missouri.  Storms are possible between 6 p.m. and midnight, and another round of storms could hit between 4 and 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Severe thunderstorms are possible overnight for the four-state area.

 

Storms capable of bringing large hail, damaging winds, heavy rainfall and a few tornadoes are possible between 11 p.m. Tuesday night and 5 a.m. Wednesday morning for southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma. Montgomery, Wilson, Chautauqua and Elk Counties in Kansas and Osage and Washington Counties are now included in the “enhanced” risk category, which is the third out of five possible risk categories from the Storm Prediction Center.
