Like many area municipalities, the City of Altamont has been considering the issue of dangerous and unsafe structures around town.

 

At the most recent meeting of the Altamont City Council, two structures were identified as being dangerous and unsafe. The property owner of one of those structures told the city that they were in the process of repairing the house to bring it up to code. The other structure was eligible for demolition. City Administrator LeaAnn Myers says the City shouldn't have to pay to haul away demolition debris.

 

There was also some discussion as to where the funds would come from.

 

The issue was tabled to allow council members to get more information on the financial details from bidders.

 

In other business, council members heard a presentation about the upcoming City Flag Day Celebration scheduled for June 14. The council approved several street closures for that date to accommodate the celebration.
