Kansas Senator Jerry Moran leads a Senate hearing regarding the January 29 crash between a passenger airliner traveling from Wichita and a Black Hawk helicopter.
As Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Aviation, Space, and Innovation, Moran opened the hearings yesterday by saying that the preliminary report on the collision has left many questions unanswered.
Among the witnesses was the Chair of the National Transportation Safety Administration Jennifer Homendy. Moran says the NTSB has the crash data. He asked her if it wasn't used.
Investigators say more than 15,000 near-miss events occurred between 2021 and 2024.
