The Oklahoma Corporation Commission approves the interim rates OG&E has been charging utility customers for nearly a year.
The interim rates went into effect on July 1, 2024, which increased rates for residential customers at that time by 6.6%. Because these rates have been in effect for almost a year, yesterday's vote by the O-C-C will not result in the amount customers pay for their utilities.
The interim rate – which was approved by the O-C-C in November – is substantially lower than OG&E initially requested. The $126 million interim increase was only about 38% of what the utility originally requested.
O-C-C Commissioners Kim David and Brian Bingman voted in favor of the final order while Commissioner Todd Hiett voted against it.
