A firefighter is injured while fighting a structure fire.
According to the Elk County Rural Fire Department, crews were responding to a structure fire yesterday afternoon when a steel stove pipe fell and hit firefighters Brandon Wolfe and Nick Miller. Wolf did not require medical attention but Miller was taken to the hospital in Eureka with injuries. According to family, Miller has multiple fractures to his shoulder blade, four broken ribs and a punctured lung. Area fire departments say the injuries are a reminder of the danger involved in firefighting, and that the majority of firefighters are volunteers.
