A Wichita man is dead after the trailer he was hauling comes into contact with some power lines.
53-year-old Shawn Kinder of Wichita was hauling an oil derrick on a flat bed trailer on K-23 southeast of Colby yesterday afternoon. When Kinder attempted to make a right-hand turn to enter a ditch in an effort to obtain more clearance for his payload, the oil derrick came into contact with live power lines. Kinder was subsequently ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. A nearby pedestrian – 48-year-old Leonard Ramsey of Natoma – was able to get into the cab of the truck and apply the brake, bringing the Kenworth to a stop.
