Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signs into law a new bill that expands the kinds of vehicles that drivers must move over for when encountering them on the highway.
The new law requires drivers to move over and change lanes for all vehicles with flashing lights pulled over on the side of the roadway. This includes emergency vehicles, tow trucks, and garbage trucks, but now also applies to disabled vehicles with emergency flashers activated.
While it has long been considered common courtesy to move over for disabled vehicles, there has been no law requiring it until this week.
