The Parsons Police Department is encouraging responsible pet ownership after a dog attack occurred on a city street.
Parsons Police responded yesterday to reports of multiple individuals who had been attacked and bitten by dogs in the 2400 block of Main Street. EMS was called to administer first aid to the victims. All of the dogs were impounded by Parsons Police and taken to the Parsons Pet Hospital for quarantine. The owner of the animals was located and cited for allowing the dogs to run loose. The owner will also be responsible for the cost of housing the animals while they are under quarantine. If the owner is unable to pay the fees, the animal may be placed for adoption through the City.
P-P-D says the department has responded to nearly 200 animal calls so far in 2025 and advises residents to follow the law in order to keep pets and the community safe. All animals should be secured in fenced yards or on leashes to ensure safety of both animals and humans.
Parsons residents with questions about animal regulations or pet safety can contact Community Services Officer Ricky Thompson at (620) 421-7060.
