A Pittsburg man is in custody in Crawford County on charges of burglary following a multi-county police chase.
48-year-old Cory Reynolds led police on a car chase late last week that spanned several Kansas counties and reached into Missouri as well before he was apprehended. The chase began just before 11pm Thursday night when Reynolds allegedly fled a traffic stop by Pittsburg Police. Officers pursued the suspect as he fled into Cherokee County and then crossed the state line into Missouri. According to authorities, the driver was driving recklessly reaching speeds in excess of 100mph. Sheriff's deputies involved in the pursuit also say the driver turned off his headlights and continued to flee in the dark.
Officers from the Crawford and Cherokee County Sheriff's Offices were joined by those from the Quapaw Nation Marshal's Service in the pursuit. Crawford County Sheriff Billy Tomasi attempted to stop the vehicle by using a Tactical Vehicle Intervention maneuver, but the driver still refused to stop. The car was eventually disabled and Reynolds was taken into custody.
In addition to the burglary charges, Reynolds has also been charged with stalking, domestic battery and fleeing and eluding. He is currently being held in the Crawford County Jail.
