Residents in Nowata are being asked to approve a bond issue to make repairs and improvements to Nowata Public Schools.
The issue is expected to cost the district just over $16 million dollars and would make some much-needed repairs to district school buildings and improve security measures at both Moore Elementary and at Nowata Middle/High School. The bond would also cover new construction for the agricultural education program.
Nowata Superintendent of Schools Tim Simpson says the bond will not raise taxes.
A second proposition that will come before voters is to purchase three new buses for the district. That measure would cost $450,000.
The school bond issue will be on the ballot for voters in Nowata on April 1.
