Icy Road Conditions on I-70 Cause of Fatal Crash in Western KS

One woman is dead and a man is seriously injured following a single-vehicle accident yesterday on I-70.

The accident occurred 10 miles west of Wakeeny around 8:30am. Icy conditions persisted on I-70 after the interstate was closed to traffic west of Salina due to a late-season snowstorm on Wednesday. 63-year-old Deborah Nagorka of Glendale, Arizona, was traveling in the westbound lanes in a Toyota 4-Runner when she hit an icy patch and lost control of the vehicle. The SUV crossed the median and overturned, crossing the eastbound lanes of I-70 before coming to rest on its top in the south ditch. Nagorka was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger – 63-year-old Anthony Nagorka – sustained serious injuries and was taken via Eagle Med Life Flight to a Hays hospital.
