Fredonia Asks Residents to Respond to Survey

The City of Fredonia is asking residents to respond to an upcoming survey.

The anonymous survey will ask residents questions about their household income. City Grant Writer Beth Ann Falstad says it is important because the information will help the city in obtaining state grants.

The income threshold is a vital element in Community Development Block Grants or C-D-B-G grants that come from the State Department of Commerce and are intended to help low to moderate-income communities fund projects. The City of Sedan recently received one of these grants to help them construct a new public library while Caney will use C-D-B-G funds to pay for part of their water line connection to the City of Coffeyville.

Falstad says Fredonia residents will soon receive a letter in the mail instructing them on how to complete the survey.

In other business at this week's Fredonia City Commission meeting, Code Enforcement Officer Duste Odell updated commissioners on progress made in the effort to condemn dangerous and unsafe homes in Fredonia. Odell told commissioners that she will present more conclusive findings at the April 16th meeting.
