A former Neosho County Sheriff has passed away.
Retired Neosho County Sheriff Jim Keath passed away on Monday. Keath began his career in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff in 1989. He then served under Sheriff Rick Wingate as a Deputy, Detective, and then as Undersheriff. He was appointed Sheriff of Neosho County in 1998 and re-elected as Sheriff multiple times. Keath finished his final term and retired in 2021.
Jim Keath was dedicated to serving the citizens of Neosho County. Even while being full-time employed with the Neosho County Sheriff’s Office continually from 1989-2021, he also served the citizens in other capacities. He worked as a part-time police officer for the cities of Chanute and Erie, an EMT, Volunteer Fireman, and Deputy Coroner.
Keath passed away peacefully at his home in Oklahoma on Monday.
