The Fredonia City Commission will meet tonight to hear an update on the progress of condemnation procedures on properties deemed dangerous and unsafe.
The City began the process of condemning more than twenty houses in the city in March of 2024. Over the past year, several homes have been removed from the condemnation list after property owners made efforts to repair the properties. Commissioners are expected to approve the remaining houses on the list and move to the next step in the process. Code Enforcement Officer Duste Odell will be on hand to provide updates for the commission.
Commissioners are also expected to designate 515 East Madison as the Police Department Headquarters and approve a 25-year contract with the Grand River Dam Authority and the Kansas Municipal Energy Agency. There will also be a discussion of conducting a local income survey to update qualifications for low to moderate-income Community Development Block Grants.
Tonight's meeting begins at 5:30 at City Hall in Fredonia. The public is invited to attend.
