Dewey City Council Address Homeless Issue

The Dewey City Council votes to amend an ordinance regarding homeless people at this week's meeting.

The change would apply to the section of the ordinance on health and sanitation involving unauthorized camping. Dewey Police Chief Jimmy Gray says the ordinance gives police a chance to make contact with people living on the streets.

The council approved a resolution amending the fiscal year 2024-2025 budget.

The council also started a discussion on the Dewey Fire Department's mutual aid to neighboring towns, an ordinance is expected to be discussed on the matter in the next meeting that will take place on April 7.
