A former pastor of a Texas megachurch turns himself in to authorities in Osage County, OK, where he faces charges of lewd or indecent acts with a child.
63-year-old Robert Preston Morris was booked into the Osage County Jail in Pawhuska and later released on a $50,000 bond. Morris faces five counts stemming from claims made by a woman who says Morris began molesting her in 1982 when she was just 12 years old.
Morris resigned as pastor of Gateway Church in the Dallas suburb of Southlake, Texas, last year when the allegations first surfaced. His attorney has stated that Morris plans to plead not guilty in the case. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison. Morris will be back in an Osage County courtroom for his initial appearance on May 9.
