High winds over the weekend result in fires and wind damage across the area.

 

High winds caused power outages and downed trees across the listening area on Friday afternoon and into the weekend. Winds caused damage to the Technical Building on the CCC campus. Coffeyville and Neodesha both reported power outages in those cities due to the high winds, while multiple grass fires were reported. An assisted-care facility in Yates Center caught fire on Friday afternoon causing extensive damage. However, all residents and staff in the facility were able to safely escape the fire.

 

Clean-up continues across the area following the massive wind storm.
