Authorities in Pawnee County, OK, are investigating after human remains were found in the ruins of a burned home following Friday’s fires.
Initial investigations indicate that the victim was attempting to flee the home and was overtaken by flames. The medical examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy to confirm the victim’s identity, though police say their investigation has pointed to the possible identity of the victim.
Police discovered the remains on Saturday afternoon following a phone call from a concerned neighbor. Details about the victim’s identity and location are being withheld until notification of next of kin can be made.
