Montgomery County to Consider Burn Ban

The Montgomery County Commission will consider issuing a county-wide burn ban at today’s meeting.

Recent high winds combined with dry conditions led to multiple grass and structure fires across the area over the weekend. In response, the Montgomery County Commission will consider a resolution to ban burning in the county until conditions improve.

Other business expected at today’s meeting includes quarterly reports from Montgomery County Sheriff Ron Wade, County Emergency Management Director Rick Whitson, and with a report from Human Resources Ashley Hand.

Kenneth Fecke from the Juvenile Justice Authority will also ask commissioners for the approval to purchase a commercial-grade wheelchair lift for the J-J-A building.

Today’s meeting begins at 9am in the Commission Room on the lower level of the Judicial Building in Independence. The meeting is open to the public and also available for viewing online via the County’s FaceBook page.
