An assisted-care facility in Yates Center suffers extensive damage in a fire.

 

Residents at Yates Center Health & Rehab were evacuated due to a nearby grass fire which spread to the facility.  Woodson County Sheriff Jacob Morrison says the fire spread to the north hall of the facility, bringing it closer to the unburned areas north of the nursing home. 

 

Morrison asks residents in the southwest area of Yates Center to keep an eye out for hotshots showing up due to the burning embers from the burning home fire, and to report those for crews to put out.

 

All residents were able to escape and no injuries were reported.
