The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday in Lawton.

 

The incident began around 8:30pm when Lawton Police responded to a report of the unauthorized use of a vehicle related to a domestic incident that occurred on Tuesday. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect fled. Officers pursued the vehicle and brought the car to a stop on I-44 between Lawton and Medicine Park. The suspect then fled on foot with a weapon. When officers caught up to the suspect they discovered that the man was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

 

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries. No police officers fired their weapons during the incident and no other injuries were reported.
