A Kansas man is arrested in Joplin on an outstanding warrant for attempted murder following a brief standoff with police.

39-year-old Joshua Ferguson was taken into custody yesterday at a Joplin hotel stemming from an incident in May 2023. During that incident, police say Ferguson shot at a family member several times. The victim in the case was unharmed.

Ferguson had been on the run since violating a condition of his bond. He is currently being held in the Jasper County Jail where he awaits extradition back to Cherokee County in Kansas.
