Survivor of Car Accident Struck by Car and Killed While on Highway

A 44-year-old man from Moran, Kansas, is struck and killed while he lay on a highway following a car accident.

The incident occurred last night around 8pm when Scott Welch of Moran was hauling a hay bale along US-54 just east of the City of Moran. The hay bale obstructed the view of the tail lights on Welch's F-250. When his vehicle was approached from behind by a Chevy Silverado driven by 84-year-old Raymond Street of Fort Scott, Streeter did not see Welch's truck and struck the vehicle. The impact caused Streeter's vehicle to spin and overturn, coming to rest on its wheels in the ditch.

Welch, however, was ejected from his vehicle and landed in the westbound lane of US-54. As he lay seriously injured on the highway, Welch was struck and killed by a third vehicle driven by 22-year-old James Bridger of Gainesville, Texas. Welch was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Neither Streeter nor Bridger were injured in the accident.
