The Use 447 Cherryvale-Thayer school board opts to vote down a measure that would change all of the light fixtures in district buildings to LEDs.
At last night's meeting, board members once again discussed the issue that had been tabled at the February meeting. Board member Casey Smith says he had heard from area contractors that they would have liked to have been able to bid the project.
Superintendent Travis Githens says the project was not bid because the two companies involved initiated the issue with the district. Githens says he agrees that postponing a final vote on the issue and allowing more companies to bid the project would be the fair way to approach the measure.
The board voted down the issue and decided to take up the matter again next year. In other business, the board voted to approve next year's school calendar while also adding one day to the end of this school year to make up for snow days. The bidding process for the replacement of the track at Logan Park was also approved.
