The Montgomery County Commission approves two purchases and hears updates from county departments.
At today's meeting, Montgomery County commissioners approved the purchase of a skid unit for Sycamore Rural Fire for $5600 and the purchase of a new water truck for Public Works fro $141,000.
County Clerk Ami Standridge gave her quarterly report to the commission, stating that the reorganization of the Clerk's Office was nearly complete and that all would be ready for the upcoming April bond election in Caney.
The commission also heard about a training opportunity from Brandee Kirk with the Health Department. Kirk says there is the opportunity to have two nurses receive training in the treatment of victims of sexual assault. The training would cost the county very little and allow for treatment for victims to occur locally as well. Currently, victims must be transported to other locations – sometimes several hours away – for treatment. The training would come via a grant given to Pittsburg State University.
